Is it just me…

Or has the London Assembly suddenly stirred into life after eight years of people wondering what it does? It’s been a bleak time for London governance at the regional tier after the Johnson administration lurched from one unedifying spectacle after another, but the assembly has finally found something purposeful to do in the form of an investigation into the mayor’s unique contributions to local statecraft since being elected. At last it does appear to be showing signs of relevance, after years of people pondering its abolition and it not doing very much to challenge that.

The Hairsplitters’ Convention convenes at last. The chaps have done good, as the mayor himself might (but probably wouldn’t) say.
