Cllr Sir Merrick Cockell
Leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council, and Chairman of the Conservative Councillor’s Association.
Cllr Cockell is a passionate advocate for London, having been Leader of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea since April 2000.
In July 2006, Cllr Cockell was elected the first Conservative Chairman of London Councils, the pan-London local government lobby organisation (formerly the Association of London Government).
Other appointments include: member of the Conservative Party’s Social Justice Policy Group, Chairman of the Kensington and Chelsea Partnership, board member of the Central London Partnership, fellow of the British American Project and president of the Chelsea Theatre.
His role as Leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council puts him in direct contact with his constituents on a day to day basis, giving him a genuine understanding of the wide range of issues facing Londoners today.
